Description
The CAA General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) is a new drone qualification required for a commercial operational authorisation. This course enables UK drone pilots to operate within the Specific Category, allowing for commercial flights using drones above 2kg.
With our extensive online drone training course bundle, approved by the CAA, you can get your drone career started right away.
The GVC qualification is the certificate you need if you want to get an Operational Authorisation from the CAA to fly drones up to 25 kg in built-up areas safely and legally. It is proof that you are a safe and competent drone pilot, who has undertaken professional training and proven their practical skills with a CAA approved Recognised Assessment Entity (RAE).
GVC is suited for professional drone pilots as it will allow you to:
Fly drone between 2kg-25kg |
Fly no closer than 50m from people |
Fly no closer than 50m from buildings |
Fly in recreational areas |
Fly in congested areas |
Is the GVC Necessary?
Having the GVC allows you to fly enterprise drones in the new Specific category – enabling you to operate with heavier payloads and equipment. GVC qualified pilots can fly enterprise drones as close as 50m from uninvolved people.
This CAA Approved certificate also opens up access to a wide range of new areas to fly – without it, pilots will not be able to operate within 150m of recreational, commercial, industrial or residential areas.
